WATCH ORDER: THINGS TO WATCH BEFORE THE WILD ROBOT

The Wild Robot is one of the most heartwarming movies to be released on 18 October 2024 by Universal Pictures. The movie is about this robot that gets stranded on Earth, as it learns about this planet it comes across the baby duck which treats it to be the mother, the wild robot for once almost organic itself as it gets comfortable with nature, but the unfortunate turn of events cause the robot's kind to turn back which have come to disturb the peace of Earth, to which the protagonist robot rebels.

1. The Iron Giant (1999)

The movie is a classic, it entails a small boy who comes across a big robot from outer space, and both are confused about each other they become friends and survive the eyes of society which they are scared of facing an antagonist response. Apart from this, another selfish government agent is off to get the Iron Giant caught and then investigated, and he comes close to finding the Iron Giant multiple times during the movie which makes it a little more thrilling. The ending is also very thrilling and we get to see a whole different side of the Iron Giant, and how the whole plot comes together at the end of it.

There are a lot of cute and wholesome moments in the movie congruent to the new movie The Wild Robot, where the Iron Giant interacts with the environment around him which gets him into all sorts of trouble and a lot of unwanted consequences. The animation is what motivated me the most to watch the movie, It is completely different from other animated movies and it is visible that there has been a lot of production that has gone into it, even when it was made a long time ago. This movie is a great reference to The Wild Robot, which makes us understand the concept of a robot in a new environment kind of a situation.

2. WALL-E(2008)

This is another classic robot movie, but it's very different and a whole new genre altogether, this movie is set in the year 2070 on Earth, where all the humans have moved to live in space because Earth being non-sustainable, all alone lives Wall-E a trash processing robot, it goes about doing about its job all alone, while living with its friend cockroach. Soon after the movie begins, the spaceship that sustains humankind sends out its regular scheduled robot to check for any improvement on Earth named EVE, Wall-E goes through what is called Love at first sight.

EVE as it lives through the day with Wall-E grows a connection with it. EVE's job was to find plant life on Earth, as it finds it it's programmed to call the spaceship and send a capsule to Earth to extract it, Wall-E unable to leave EVE hangs onto its dear life and reaches the spaceship. Where they have gone way ahead in technology such that they don't even walk but hover everywhere. The spaceship has a brain of its own, which is surprisingly the antagonist of this movie, it destroys every plan to move back to Earth by taking control of the humans there, it has an amazing twist and overall a beautiful love story between Wall-E and EVE, really shows how robots which come in contact with Earth, just like the wild robot.

3. Kubo and the Tow Strings

Unlike the movies mentioned above, this one does not include robots, now one might wonder what this is doing, in this list, let me explain. The movie itself has an incredible animation, it's a one-of-a-kind stop motion type of animation and includes an incredibly twisted story like the world robot. Kubo is the son of a samurai and a demon who is great with origami, he lives with his mom who would have had their memory altered when she was protecting Kubo from her evil father. Kubo would have never seen his father Hanzo who would have died protecting him. He is the sole protagonist who goes on an adventure to find his parents.

Kubo's mother warns Kubo from staying out late in the night, because when his grandfather the moon king would be looking for him, one day Kubo enters a festival where the people have a ritual to speak to the ones that they have lost, Kubo having never met his father, would engage himself in this ritual, but as he finds no success it turns out that he would have waited until night, this is when his grandfather knowing Kubo's location chasing him, on this quest of his to destroy the moon king, he meets a monkey and a warrior beetle. With only his Shamisen and two friends, he goes against the Moon King, exactly like The wild robot who has to go against her kind.

4. Chappie (2015)

This movie is not animated but it does delve into more artificial intelligence, in this movie humans have realized that the police force has been taking a lot of blows from fugitives, hence they decide to build robots that can take care of them, the creator decides to go one step further from just robots who just follow orders and protocols, to making artificial intelligence, which he integrates into the same robot, and names it Chappie, unfortunately, Chappie ends up with a few gangsters who are in desperate need of money. Even though he end  the creator doesn't want Chappie to grow out to be a robot that does crime, Chappie has his struggles between the good and the bad.

Chappie is all ready to go gangster on the antagonist robot. "Chappie (2015)."https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1823672/mediaindex/

It's rather not a realistic look into artificial intelligence, the pace of this movie concerns the developing technology, if you think the robot got easily adjusted to the artificial intelligence wait for the ending, this just stretches the bounds of reality. The movie is overall fun to watch, there are some cute moments with the robot and some funny moments. All in all this movie does give a good idea of how a robot who has its thoughts adjusts to all the human emotions and behaviors, which is what we can expect from the wild robot as well.

5. I Am Mother (2019)

This is more or less similar to the situation in WALL-E, Earth which was once lush, has become barren without humans but with left with a single robot that has been assigned to regrow the population, by incubating some human embryos and taking care of them, teaching them to be the best of the humankind so that they do not have to face the extinction again, although the robot seems perfect as the one to take care of a baby because it has everything covered. What's a movie without twists, the firstborn baby when it grows up, realizes that the world outside is not what the robot explained to her.

The mother robot taking care of the first born with her warmth "I Am Mother (2019)."IMDb

This woman gets curious and tries to go out of bounds, exactly what was restricted by the robot, during the process she realizes that the robot could be telling lies, just to keep her in the bunker where they lived secluded from the entire world. This is not as happy and wholesome as the wild robot is gonna be but this shows a different side of how a robot living among humans could affect the scenario, it's one of those possibilities that one was able to put out in the form of a movie. However the aspect of how the robot acts like the mother of an organic being is exactly how the wild robot takes care of the duckling in the movie.

Alright, there is the list of everything to watch before you watch the movie, hope you guys have enjoyed the read, if you did make sure to spread the word about this blog to others interested as well, cause I am only going to be bringing you guys more of what you guys just read, hopefully I have at least motivated you to give one of these movies mentioned a watch. Well, I only wish to improve your experience in entertainment.

WATCH ORDER: THINGS TO WATCH BEFORE JOKER : Folie à Deux

Joker:  Folie à Deux is the sequel to the Joker movie in 2019 releasing on 4th October 2024. Folie à Deux means a mental disorder shared by people who are close to each other, what a fitting name for the movie about the duo Joker and Harley Quinn. It's important to understand a little bit of backstory for both of them to have an amazing experience watching the movie, don't worry this blog is spoiler-free. Although an introduction to these well-known characters is not required, for all the veterans it's a good list to jog your memory, and for all the new viewers it's time to train your brains to handle some craziness.

  1. Batman (1989)

This is where it all really starts for Joker in live action movies, which is what makes this movie a must watch. This movie gives an amazing introduction to the character and really explains his origin story as in comics and depicts the relationship between Batman and Joker in its utmost raw form. Joker in this movie is pretty much the badass villain who might not be strong physically but is smart, this smart brain which is also psychotic makes him one of the most feared villains. there are also some minor appearances of other important characters in the DCEU like Commissioner Gorden, Harvey Dent, and Alfred.

 Joker's final performance. "Batman (1989)." IMDb, https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0096895/mediaindex/.

This movie gives a real essence of who the Joker is, he is seen pulling out his famous laughing gas trick and some other pretty as well as petty tricks just to have a laugh. Joker's jokes only make sense to him while others just find it cruel and insane. Although this movie has one of the silliest of Joker's, it still is the perfect movie to start with to understand the tone of this character. With his crazy wit along with his perseverance to prove Batman wrong, he puts out a big show just to show everyone that he is no less mysterious than Batman, which makes one question if Batman is really in the right or is he just a single step away from becoming joker himself.

2. The Dark Knight (2008)

This movie has set the bar for the most nerve-racking acts of Joker, this movie has set a silhouette for Joker. This already makes this a must-watch, even if you are not the one to follow any of the DC movies, the Batman movies, or the Joker movies. It's a must-watch for its amazing cinematography, the astounding acting, and the immense detail the directors have invested in putting out music which brings a chill down the spine during those intense scenes. There is no origin story in this movie, it gets straight to the point and just blows your mind thinking what more is Joker even capable of?

This movie features some of the most famous lines of Joker, including "Why so serious" and "Let's put a smile on that face". This movie is not just some live adaptation of a comic, it makes you question what's right? and what's wrong?, is Batman the good guy?, Is Joker the villain? There are a couple of scenes where you are trying to decode Joker's brain, which will only leave you trapped in a maze of wonder. Joker's true intentions are made more clear in this movie which fits his overall character, him being psychotic, it is very clear that he doesn't have any motive for money or power, he just wants to push people, "the civilized people" (Watch the movie to get this reference) to their limits just for fun and to see how they react, which makes him one of the scariest villain of all time.

3. The Suicide Squad (2016)

This movie has one of the most disliked Joker probably because of his weird teeth and that hairstyle, but Joker is not the reason why this movie is on this list, it's because of Harley Quinn, who is the second protagonist in Joker:  Folie à Deux, Harley Quinn for those of you who don't know is the lover/second in hand to Joker and she, as some might even say crazier than Joker. This movie explains the origin story of Harley in a sort of montage and it also depicts this love/hate relationship between Harley and Joker.

Harley in this movie uses her favorite weapon the wooden baseball bat which also might be featured in the new movie. Harley used to be the psychiatrist to Joker in the Arkham Asylum, as expected she clearly couldn't handle Joker's brain and she eventually fell for Joker and became his lover. In this movie Harley is the primary member of the suicide squad and she works with the team on a mission that could potentially kill her. Amidst all this Joker tries to intrude and their love for each other brings about complexities which is what makes this movie that much interesting.

4. Batman: The Killing Joke (2016)

This is just an animated movie which will not be able to depict Joker's true colors and eerie nature of his, cause who really takes a cartoon movie seriously is what I was thinking before I watched it, oh was I wrong, this movie has batgirl and batman fighting crime, until batman comes across Joker planning something sick again. As the setting goes batman has become tired of fighting him again and again, and is finally ready to change things. Hence this movie is a bit strange and its different from all the movies above where both of them are just going at each other. This one shows a completely different side of Joker and Batman.

Joker's grin, you know he is up to no good. "Batman: The Killing Joke (2016).", IMDb  https://www.imdb.com/title/tt4853102/mediaindex/

This movie presents Joker's origin story but with a twist, Joker as he explains his baffling backstory he says "I have a past, but I don't seem to remember it properly, every time I keep remembering different details", even though it's just a single line it makes the whole picture more clear. To add to that Batman in this movie also confesses that he doesn't know who Joker is even after countless encounters, which is what makes Joker more interesting. Joker in this movie pushes his luck to the maximum, again just to test what Batman does and have a little bit of "fun" seeing how people react to the vilest thing he can put forth.

5. Joker (2019)

This movie is the prequel to Joker: Folie à Deux, it's one hell of a mentally straining movie, Joker is the protagonist and the antagonist, his acting is flawless and the movie takes a deep dive into his mind, they show what Joker has been through in his life to have become the way he has turned out to be. This movie makes the viewers feel that although he might be doing all the wrong things, when you think of the reason you start to wonder whether he is in the right.

Joker's grin, preparing for his grand show. "Joker (2019).". IMDb  https://www.imdb.com/title/tt7286456/mediaindex/

People always say to protect the weak, when you realize that society and life aren't always fair to everyone, that's when the weak become strong and that's what this movie preaches. Joker stops believing that he can make the world a happy place, he joins the evil as he feels like he can't fight evil anymore. The psychotic human that he is, he not only feels good about being at the center of chaos but also thinks it's funny by disclosing the truth that it gives him a sense of freedom and satisfaction. He presents as someone who has nothing to lose which is where you realize that he has crossed the last line of hope. It's an amazing movie overall with great acting and it is something that has to be watched before watching the new movie.

Alright, there is the list of everything to watch before the new movie releases, hope you guys have enjoyed the read, if you did make sure to spread the word about this blog to others interested as well, cause I am only going to be bringing you guys more of what you guys just read, hopefully I have at least motivated you to give one of these movies mentioned a watch. Well, I only wish to improve your experience in entertainment.

THE EXPENDABLES : Rogue justice

1. OVERVIEW

Expendables is an action filled movie, characterizing a group of rogue specialists who work for themselves as a vigilante group of men, these men in todays layman terms can be called as free lancers, who do impossible jobs involving assassinations or destruction of an evil plan set up by a dictator of sorts.

These men are prepared with their ammunitions and amazing fighting skills, they are able to take down a whole entire army just by using their ability to understand the environment and adapt to the situation, the team is made of six people and one leader who tells them about which missions they have available.

Of the six of them, the first one is the leader of the group, the second one is a guy who can use blades and throwing knives, the third member is an Asian who knows martial arts, the fourth member of the team is the muscle of the group ,the fifth member is a gun man who knows everything about guns and bombs, and the sixth is an ex military army man.

In this movie the team chooses a mission which includes going to an island called Vilena and then removing the army rule their by killing the commander, the island is completely overcome by the dictator commander and this movie shows how the expendables deal with this situation.

2. CHARACTERS

Barney Ross played by the one and only Sylvester Stallone is the one who abides by justice and he is the kind of a person who doesn't get sleep when he knows there is injustice or there is someone in pain which he could have prevented. He is great with handling the team and managing the team such that there is as much less quarrel between them as possible. He is great during the cowboy showdown type situations as he is great with his pistol and doesn't not miss his target.

There is a sense of selflessness in him that the viewers would really look up to and one his qualities that people cherish about him. Sometimes he does things in his own out of his own will and the team members support him in any way possible and get him out of any situation and this is the kind of leader that an explicable team deserves.

Lee Christmas played by none other than Jason Statham is the Blade specialist, he has great aim and can throw daggers and throwing knives at great speeds and great accuracy, he never misses his targets, his skill set works great for an assassination type of a mission since the knives don't make as much noise and its a silent weapon. He is a nice guy overall and believes in justice and is a man with kind heart and trust.

Tool played by Mickey Rourke is the leader of the Expendables squad and he is one of the ex members of the squad itself, he doesn't attend the missions because of a horrific past that haunts him everyday. He assigns missions to the squad as well as takes care of the mental well-being of the squad. He is a tattoo artist on the side which adds the extra element of goth and punkish vibe to him.

 .

Yin Yang played by Jet Li is the Asian in the group, he is an amazing martial artist and can physically take down each of the team members on his own, he is good with his fighting skills and his ability to use the environment on his favor. He assumes the team is not in his favor cause he is an Asian and that he is so short, everyone in the team makes fun of this fact and this adds the extra bit of humor in the movie.

Gunner played by Dolph Lundgren in the movie struggles with anger management and temper-related challenges, this character struggles to control his emotions, leading to heated conflicts and impulsive decisions. The inclusion of such a character adds a layer of tension and volatility to the narrative, potentially influencing the relationships and events within the movie.

3. CINEMATIC APPEAL

The movie is characterized by an intense plot involving a lot of unwanted and unexpected gore and violence. These scenes include the intense combat, fights, or confrontations that are visually explicit and showcase the brutality of the story.

The inclusion of such graphic scenes adds the element of shock, flinch and rawness to the narrative, appealing to audiences seeking an adrenaline-fueled viewing experience, some viewers would find this part of the movie really exciting.

The movie is action-packed, featuring numerous sequences involving intense action and thrilling chases. These scenes are meticulously choreographed and filmed to captivate the audience, showcasing a blend of physical combat, stunts, and fast-paced pursuits, as well as making the best use of the environment. The use of dynamic action sequences enhances the overall excitement and energy of the movie.

Incorporating the environment creatively into fight scenes is a hallmark of a great movie. Characters utilize their surroundings strategically during fights, adding an innovative dimension to the action. This aspect not only showcases the characters' adaptability but also enhances the realism and excitement of the fight sequences, this makes the viewers adore the fight sequences.

4. PERSONAL OPINION

The movie features a diverse array of characters, each with their own set of principles or beliefs and each of them having their own but of inside jokes which adds the element of whimsy. Some characters adhere to a moral or ethical code, guiding their actions and decisions, while others may lack such principles and operate based on personal motivations or survival instincts.

The diversity in character values contributes to the complexity of the story and influences the interactions and conflicts within the movie, since the principles of one might coincidence with the other and that's when they work together and make impossible happen or at times when they go against each other and that leads to a world of pain for the entire team.

A prominent theme in the movie is the betrayal of comrades or allies. The trust between the members of the team is broken and the balance of the team is at stake, the characters face betrayal from those they consider close or on the same side.

The betrayal element introduces internal conflict, emotional turmoil, and moral dilemmas- which pretty much questions if people actually deserve a second chance when the things they have done is of utmost horrifying kind. This deepens the plot and character development, potentially driving the story in unexpected directions.

The movie prides itself on defying predictability. It keeps the audience on the edge of their seats by incorporating unexpected plot twists and turns that deviate from conventional storylines. The unpredictability engages the viewers, challenging their expectations and delivering a unique and surprising viewing experience, the intercrossing of different plot lines and different relations between the characters in the movie adds to the unpredictability.

Beyond the main characters, the movie introduces third-party elements that disrupt the anticipated narrative flow, this part of the movie is completely unexpected and very surprising. These unexpected twists could come from external forces, unforeseen alliances, or hidden agendas, throwing the characters and audience off balance and intensifying the story's intrigue and suspense.

5. CONCLUSION

The movie features a cast of physically imposing characters, often referred to as "buff dudes." Their imposing presence aligns with the high level of action showcased throughout the film. This abundance of action scenes, of high quality and intensity, ensures that the movie lives up to the expectations of action enthusiasts, providing a visually exhilarating experience.

I would give this movie a rating of 3.5/5. I feel the need for a bit of backstory to better understand the characters and the overarching situation. A lack of adequate background information can leave viewers wanting more context, particularly regarding the characters' motivations, past experiences, and the overall setting. A well-developed backstory enhances character depth and enriches the storytelling.

At times the movie looks like a piece of a bigger movie where only the best action parts were cut and made into a new movie, just because of the fact that there is no pre or post parts of the movie properly explained.
